Q: So...guys...wow. Unsigned, talented to the bone, and at the end of a major motion picture, with a major following? What do you guys think of all this?
KEVIN: We are very excited to have our song in Resident Evil: Extinction. Its like a dream come true. We are huge Resident Evil fans as well so that makes it 10 times more exciting.
Q: Now I understand one of you is a major video game freak... as representing all of you ...you guys all play VGs? And if so, what's your favorite one?
K: Well me and Adam(vocals) are very big into video games. Matt (guitar) is into online games. As for Adam and I, Resident Evil 4 takes the cake on the favorite game. We also like God Of War, Oblivion, and Bioshock.
Q: Why Resident Evil?
K: There is just something about it. Its like we are kind of waiting for something like what happens in the game, to happen in real life. Its not impossible for that to happen.
Q: What on earth did you do to get the recognition to get in the movie soundtrack? Obviously, the song means alot more than just 'a video game movie' as people say, but seriously, how?
K: We had the opportunity to record some songs with Branden Steineckert (ex drummer for The Used, currenty playing drums in Rancid) at his studio in Utah. When we were recording "Contagious" we were discussing what the song was written about, and we said "Its about Resident Evil". He is friends with Milla Jovovich (Alice) so he sent her a copy of the song. It kept going up the chain and the producers heard it and wanted it on the soundtrack and to play during the end credits.
Q: Do you have any plans of getting signed or are you taking it easy for now?
K: Of course we would like to get signed. But for now we are writing alot and trying to build a strong following. Hopefully a record deal will happen in the near future.
Q: Any major tours or anything we should know about?
K: As for now no. But we are hoping to put together a small west coast tour soon and start getting our name out there.
Q: Will you go see the Resident Evil: Extinction movie?
K: We will be first in line. We are super excited about the movie regardless of our song being in it. We are die-hard RE fans.
Q: Did you like the other two movies?
K: Yes. I have to admit i liked the first one better. The infected dogs were really cool. I wasnt extremely happy with the second one but it was still good. Its Resident Evil for gods sake.
Q: Which of the two movies was your favorite?
K: Definitely the first one.
Q: You know how they decided to put you at the end? And why?
K: Yes it was the producers idea. And the music producer really liked how the song actually had to do with the movie and thought it would fit perfectly at the end.
Q: What can you give for advice to other bands or artists who want to do what you guys obviously rock at?
K: Just to never give up. I know it seems like everyone says that but it really takes time for a band to make it. A strong following definitely helps. I mean we are still learning the ropes to an extent.
Q: Who do you admire in terms of musicians or bands and why?
?K: We all have different bands we look up to. Adam is very influenced by The Goo Goo Dolls, Foo Fighters, and Silverchair. Matt- My Chemical Romance and The Killers. Ricky is into indie rock like Sparta, Thursday, At The Drive-In. And I like all the above and AFI. I also like dance rock like The Faint, Blaqk Audio, and Skinny Puppy.
Q: Who's got the girlfriends? Any of you single? (Laughter)
K: Hahaha. 2 taken and 2 single.
Q: When you guys shoot to fame, you think you'll always be yourselves or do you think things would change?
K: Whatever happens to us in the music industry we will always be grateful for what we have. Our parents and friends are a huge part of our lives and they help give us the motivation we need.
Q: Besides RE, what other movies do you guys enjoy?
K: The new Halloween is amazing. We like alot of different stuff. Transformers, Stranger Than Fiction, other zombie movies that dont come close to RE. hahaha.
Q: How did you come up with the lyrics to the song Contagious?
K: Adam wrote the lyrics while him and I were religiously playing Resident Evil 4. We write about what hits us hard and RE4 hit us pretty hard. Its an intense game.
Q: Are you afraid of 'selling out' someday, or doesn't it matter? MTV, TRL, etc etc. Who cares if you're getting paid, doing what you love and staying true to the music, right?
K: Its really about more than how much money we make or how "famous" we get. Its about writing a song that someone can start over 10 times while they are driving down the street and have an impact on them. Its about having a song about something so powerful that people can feel it in their soul. No matter where we end up, we just hope our music can have an impact on someones life.
Q: I hear there's going to be a Las Vegas party for the RE Soundtrack, I wish I could go but I'm more than 1,000 miles away. Could you do anything special for me? ;), kidding.
K: Haha. Sure anything. Yes we are going to perform at Zia Record Exchange to promote the soundtrack. And the world premiere will be held in Las Vegas too so that will be quite fun.
They told me to have a great day and they were AAA+ awesome.
