Fake. The Death Star is flat.
LTC cherno
Forget the CGI. That impression of Peter Cushing is remarkable.
Isaac the Worship Warrior
Why do people complain about the CGI Tarkin? He looks amazing!
M Lau
"I will not fail." And he failed a few days later.
Owen Smith
Tarkin: Failure will find you explaining why to a much less patient audience.
Krennic: In other words, Vader will kill me.
Tarkin: Exactly.
Pierre Begley
One of Peter Cushing's biggest regrets was not being able to be in any more Star Wars films after A New Hope. So I'm sure he would have wanted this.
Gareth Edwards should have directed ep 7-9. He's the only director who seems to understand how to make a SW movie
mindscape reality
I remember telling my dad that they brought Peter Cushing back to play Tarkin and his reaction was priceless. He said "Peter Cushing! Where did they dig him up from? He must be 100 years old by now."
Will Brock
so why are people complaining about the motion capture to recreate tarkin? i think it looks very convincing
Vice Stojčić
This movie is so fricking better then SW VII & VIII
Emperor Reign
I was already aware that Tarkin was CGI after hearing about it from various sources before seeing the movie, but my brother had no idea, and was convinced they just got an actor who both sounded and looked almost exactly like Cushing. He was completely taken aback that he was digitally created when I told him. Anyone bitching about the CGI are being overly picky. It was absolutely fine.
Angry Silence
Thought the title said "Grand Moff Tarkin's Death".
Robert Cornhole
One of the subtexts I really dig in this movie is the clash between
Krennic and Tarkin.

Krennic has a rougher accent, maybe a speech impediment (he tends to
slur his S's), and loses his composure fighting to prove himself.
Versus Tarkin's patrician, pointed Received Pronunciation diction, and
unflappable imperious attitude.

Even in the Imperial elite, there's a hint of classism.
Wolfgang Lunar
Please tell me Guy Henry was wearing slippers while playing this role.
Absolutely nobody ever;
I want to see more witty comments with the clever semicolon structure format like this one!

I will not fail!
Gets hit by Death Star
Only people aware of Tarkin being CGI and Peter Cushing having been dead for 20 years know/tell it's CGI. All the people I know that were unaware of these facts didn't doubt for a second that Tarkin wasn't real, and were quite shocked to hear it was.
Joseph M.
Krennic is 100x more bad-ass then Phasma
Mélik Emmanuel
Love the whole scene... the empire, tie fighters, star destroyers, imperial officers, troopers, Tarkin, the music, this is classic star wars in modern times, BEAUTIFUL...

This felt more like a star wars movie to me than The Force Awakens or The Last Jedi
Some people saw the CGI and immediately knew it was fake, some people knew Peter Cushing was dead and knew it was fake.

I figured out that A New Hope came out 40 years ago and the actor had to be in his sixties back THEN, and did basic math.
John Jarocki
I was FLOORED with this scene. I actually had to look up if he was really dead when the movie ended.
I dont care what anyone says about the CG - this scene blew my mind.
This really doesn't look as bad as people said it does.
