Just a heads up with the boat, The boat you saw was a canal and river survey boat, it gets done annually and you so happen to be there on their annual survey! You can see more yourself and see the exact boat on google and YouTube if you search Standedge tunnel survey! Great video as always man keep up the good work!

“Yo that sounds awfully like a train”

Famous last words.

its a ventalation shaft, in the days of steam it would be used to remove the smoke, also they could have been used as a shaft in the tunnels construction.

The fireplace is used as part of a service station for the maintenace crew 100 odd years back.

That fireplace and wooden floors are from the day's of building the tunnels back in the day a rest / brake area

I used to work for british waterways and had to go through an exact same tunnel everyday in a van to monitor boats through a tunnel incase of an emergency or if the boat got stuck, its a disused train tunnel tracks have just been removed, ive been sat in the middle of one in place they call the chapel where satanists used to go to do rituals n ive heard some weird stuff down there, shovels being used to dig the gravel, footsteps etc thats in marsden huddersfield,

Looked like a survey boat to me. That rear section being a radar unit. Probably checking the tunnels for cracks etc.

Pretty stupid idea to spark up cigarettes down there, when you have no idea what's there 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️. The content was unreal though, nice one from your part.

Ps, glad you bought a gas metre, it may just save your lives one day! It’s easier than carrying a canary around!

The fire place next to the live track would have been for rail workers to keep warm and have breaks .

That shaft is just an air vent , like you said for fresh air . Imagine how bad it would have been when the steam trains rans .

That clicking sounds like an electrical contactor switching in and out or on and off if you prefer, probably powering a water/sump pump. Keep exploring this one had me on the edge of my seat! And the survey boat probably picked up your electronic items with its radar hence why it reversed.

Glad you got a gas detector dude. Keep the sensors clean and dry, get it calibrated every 12 months. stay safe. Daz out.
