DSLR Video Shooter is legitimately the most consistent filmmaking channel. Every video is informative and amazing. But I feel like he’s so underrated. I’m so happy to see him here!

sorry to say, but a good film making involves a good understanding of script, and good use of lighting to create an atmosphere. camera comes far distant, unless your script and shot planning is not good even the godly cameras and lens that you use in space is not going to help you.
Next is the most "misguided" 21st century specialty , "highlights and shadows"... Never buy a camera for highlight and shadows , Dont get in to that LAB look where everything is evenly lit and "fix it in post" habit.
You want everything 90-95% straight from camera and may be max 10% tinkering in post, if that means spending extra time at the location tinkering with lighting ...Do it !! You will learn way more than trying to balance skin in post and wondering why everything else looks bad.
Try to play with the shadows , they are you best friend , "Ever wondered why paintings looks so amazing". Dont bring shadows in post, lit them on set , and use them to create the magic.

And for the most important, If you want the full frame , Get a DSLR and hook with external recorder, Mirror less full frame is 80% heavy not 50% , so it makes no sense to switch. If you truly love mirror-less try the m43, they are truly light and fits the purpose of mirror-less.
And please remember , "you dont need lab images" , you want character...Ever wondered why they say Iphones takes better image than dlsr. And the new leica is not the same look as the true leica we all love.
We have lost the art of taking photos ,and is moving to scientific look.

"...and it's really affordable for a sound device, this around $600-$650." Kinda of made me laugh a bit. Like in other words I won't be buying it. Yes, I get it good audio equipment can be expensive. Everyone has their version of expensive. :)

Thank you so much for sharing so much humble advice. I'm starting to make money, and my first inclination was to rush out and buy a bunch of gear. I hesitated about a gimbal. You kind of confirmed a lot of what I was thinking :)
